And the winner goes to.......
I have never been to any beauty pageants before. And if given chance, I wouldnt go either... because it was just another pageant. But I went to this year's Miss SPARC MMU anyway. Only to support my best friend, Muneyra, who was one of the contestants.
The room was decorated beautifully and everyone dressed so smartly. The girls, especially. They dressed as if they were going to the prom! And I was quite embarrassed, cause I was wearing my 'best' presentation shirt. Bodoh. I could have gone with a T-shirt too. No one would have stopped me. At least the T-shirt would make me looked less serious and more casual. The whole thing was awesome. The DJ Kish was fantastic. Record holder of the longest speaking DJ, he really can talk. And he's damn good. He can speak a little of other language and he can create humor almost instantly. It was fun just having him there. His co-host unfortunately, Rachel, whom is most definitely a fellow MMUian, performed quite poorly. I think they picked the wrong person to be the host. She didn't talk much and most of the time you can only hear Kish talking.
But anyway... Thirteen contestants, they may be all physically beautiful, but those who can speak good English... you can count them in only one hand. The rest speak English that makes you cringe. Muney was fabulously great. Hey, I didnt say that cause she's my best friend okay? It was true. She was the only one who had a unique walk, talk and dance. You can tell, when she doing the catwalk, that she's walking the way she walks all the time. Yeah well, so she's not walking like a professional model (which she is not anyway) but she was being herself and she was totally enjoying herself. You can tell from her face and her smile when she dancing or walking. It seems like she's playing rather than competing. And anyway, she did the Q & A session well. She didn't give the best answer, but it was good enough.
Sshhhh...tell you a secret... Im PYSHIC! I already know the results before they announced it! No lying! I even know that Muney was gonna be in the Top 5! And I guessed what positions all the Top 5 contestants would be in during the results. And whoa... my predictions were all correct! I forgot about the 4th and 3rd runner-ups' names, but...
2nd runner --> no other than my beloved friend, Muney
The last of her introductory line was, "I love Spongebob Squarepants. So next time, when you see Spongebob Squarepants, you will remember, Munerah." (Now that's what I call individuality; other contestants gave the usual plain ol' boring introductions. You go, girl!)
1st runner --> Rusniza Ibrahim, Alpha IT (she thought she was the champion... embarrasing... but she does have nice and smooth skin... earned her a Miss Bio-Essence Beautiful Skin title)
Miss MMU 2005 --> Joey Chai, Delta Engineering. This girl really deserves the crown. Her answer for the Q & A session was brilliant.
Q: "What would you do if the person who can make you stop crying is the one who makes you cry?"
A: "Well, then I guess I should move on, because in life it is not how deep we fall, but how fast we leap and bounce back...." (cool answer, aint it?)
Well, congratulations to all the contestants and winners and also the organizing commitees for the wonderful work and a great night. *thumbs up* ^_^
